The European Space Agency (ESA) has partnered with Delft University of Technology’s (TU Delft) Micro Air Vehicle Laboratory to train neural-network artificial intelligence systems to race drones for use in potential space missions. Neural networks more closely mimic human brains processes, and could enable spacecraft to maneuver autonomously using real-time data. The TU Delft testing on Earth includes studying AI-powered drones racing to test and prove the AI’s potential for space missions.
